When he pressed harder into her, she couldn't breathe. It felt as though he pushed all of the oxygen from her lungs and left her gasping for something... But she only wanted him to not stop. Don't ever stop. Mewling out her pleasure at feeling him inside, her body ached and tightened about him each time he pushed in so deep. Nothing... nothing felt like this. No one.
It felt like so much, too much, and not enough all at the same time. Gods, how did she live so long without him? One hand found the back of his neck to pull him closer, her lips taking him in a hungry kiss as she licked into his mouth to claim it. Not that it stopped the moans from slipping into his mouth or each tiny sound as her hips rolled up into his, her legs tightening about his waist to add to each deep thrust.
The love she kept held tight to her heart felt like it might catch fire and burn them both up. It consumed her and how she needed him like this. All those silly cliches she'd learned since she became part of this world made glaring sense now as he seemed to literally disappear into her own being. Like one person. Breaking the kiss, she cried out softly a sound that sounded like his name.
Everything just felt to be consumed in a fiery heat or liquid fire coursing through her veins. All because it was him.
He melted into the kiss willingly, lips parting as he let his tongue brush against hers, overwhelmed by how intensely she kissed him, and the way it coupled with how her body felt against his. It was enough to drive him faster out of his mind, but he tried to breathe deeply and keep himself in control, wanting to draw out the moment even if only for a few seconds longer.
Breaking the kiss only so he could breathe, he propped one hand up on the mattress next to her, arching his body so he could keep pushing deep into her. The muscles down his back and legs tensed as he set up a calm but steady pace, each time burying himself as deep as he could, feeling nothing but sheer bliss at how wonderfully tight and warm she felt, how there wasn't a single part of her that didn't welcome him completely.
That thought alone would be enough to drive him over the edge eventually. Free hand sliding down to her hip and thigh, his gaze lingered on her face, looking every bit as fascinated by her as he felt, his heart thumping wildly in his chest as he traced every line of her face, committing to memory each and every shift of her expression as it twisted in sheer pleasure while they made love.
Breathing in sharply, she tipped her head just enough to meet his gaze and just meeting his eyes sent a tremor down her spine. A soft breath moan left her lips before she managed to soften her movements enough so that her fingertips slipped over his cheek sweetly before smoothing his hair back. Her fingers almost trembled with the desire to just grab onto him make him hers again and again.
Which was likely why she slipped her legs lower, bracketing his hips before easily flipping them over on the bed and pressing him into the mattress. Moaning lowly, she pressed her hands over his chest and and over his stomach as she sat up more, all the while using her weight to press him in deeper. Shivering, her back arched at the feeling. Fingers curled against his stomach, nails scraping his skin as she started to move again.
"Touch me." Her voice was nearly a purr as she started to ride him, rising and falling almost in a perfect languid rhythm, her thighs tightening and flexing with the motions against his sides.
Steve only had time to take an audible breath, then let out a faint gasp as she flipped them around on the bed. Surprise mingled with a trace of amusement, but before he could laugh or even smile, she was sinking down even lower on him, and his lips parted in a moan as he felt his cock bury in deeper than before, head falling back and eyes rolling in their sockets.
"Diana!" Her name left him in a loud cry, his breath stuttering audibly in a near plea, his hips lifting off the bed and pushing up against her. The move caught him a little by surprise, admittedly, but it was far too exciting to have her on top of him, riding him and taking her own pleasure the way she wanted it, and he quickly adapted to the position, following her lead and her instruction without needing any prompting.
Hands clinging tight to her hips for a moment, he slid them up her sides, rounding her shoulders then moving down until he was cupping her breasts. Fingers caught her hard nipples briefly, pinching lightly before he smoothed over them with his thumbs, one hand finally trailing lower to where their bodies met. His eyes never left her in the meantime, mesmerized by the sight of her moving fluidly on top of him, moaning breathlessly as he both felt and saw his cock disappear past her folds and into her.
Tossing her head back lightly, she moved one hand away from the plane of his stomach to sweep her hand back over her shoulders. The long dark waves nearly brushed over the line of his thighs as she leaned back further, that hand smoothing down his thigh to just above his knee. Leaving it there, she braced herself, eyes closed and the elegant curve of her body bare for him.
In a way, she wanted his eyes on her. Wanted him to see what he did to her. The way her nipples hardened under his touch or the tautness of the muscles in her stomach as the tightened and shivered from each rise and fall of her body on to him. She could get lost in him. Have all of her senses blown away until there was only the electric heat on him humming through her veins.
Her lips parted in a gasp as she moved a little faster, coming down a little harder, feeling every inch of him burying into the tight heat. Each time he pushed in deep her body tightened about him forcing a cry out of her lips as she moved anyway. It felt so good. Steve felt so good. And it had be so long. It was hard to hold on and not just tip over the edge. She was so close. The fluttering of inner muscles about him warned her that she wouldn't last much longer... not through this. Not with him.
The sight alone overwhelmed him, and Steve could practically feel himself burn from head to toe as she leaned back just so, her body all but on display for him. He cried softly, feeling his neck and face heat up with a deep fluster that was impossible to hide. Not that he minded this in the least, but... well, he was still a man from the past century, and some things were still bound to catch him by surprise, and to embarrass him a little too.
Far be it from him to mind, though. And as he felt her tighter around him, moving at a gradually faster and more erratic pace, he dropped his hand lower still, intent on helping push her over the edge. The fact that he had been with at least a few women before Diana helped him in knowing the female body well enough, but Diana also hadn't shied away from showing him the one spot where she liked being touched (a lot, actually, as he remembered it), so he brushed his thumb down the line of her groin, carefully drawing her folds aside and finding that exact spot, right above where their bodies met.
He drew his thumb in a slow, testing circle, getting used to the motion, then set up a gentle but insistent pace, hips raising in tandem with the motions of her own body, eager to push her over the edge— and follow right after her, himself.
Straightening just a little when he cried out, her eyes peered through heavy lashes to slowly trace his face and take in that flushed skin. He looked good like that. Open and taken in by her. She loved all the different ways he looked at her. It sent a shiver down her spine that had her cry out as her inner muscles flutter and tightened about him.
But then his hand moved, drifting closer to that one spot that made her ache in all the best ways. The feeling of him slipping past the heated skin drew a mewl from her that broke into a low moan the first time he circled it.
But then he became more sure and each shift and motion of his fingers had her gasping and crying out him name. Her hips rolled, half wanting to take him in and partly wanting to press into his hand harder. The heat built up so sharply, she felt it crescendo in blinding white behind her eyelids. Hitting that peak of pleasure washed all coherent thought away other than those of him as she bent over his torso, her inner walls tightening about him over and over. "STEVE!"
He felt her whole posture and rhythm shift with the first few strokes of his thumb, and drawing in a sharp breath, he gasped suddenly, muscles of his stomach tensing as he arched his back and lifted his hips up, trying to keep up with her pace. He kept moving his thumb fast but with precision, careful not to hurt her but wanting to push her to her climax as fast as possible.
And once she tipped over the edge, crying out his name in pure ecstasy, Steve couldn't help but follow after. Moaning loudly, the way she clenched impossibly tighter around him was all it took for him to lose all semblance of control, and letting his head fall back on the bed again, he finally came.
Moving his hands to hold her hips, he kept his own thrusts hard and fast, a little more so now as he rode out his own climax, spilling into her and filling her up with each deep thrust that had him burying inside her. Felt like pure bliss, and each time her tight muscles milked him of everything he had to give her, until he was a soft boneless mass on the bed, chest heaving as he breathed in shallow and audible pants.
Bowing her back slightly, she slipped her hands up his stomach and splayed over his chest as she made her self continue to move on him. She could feel his orgasm and only added to that moment by not stopping. The motions were slower, a bit shallower if only because she wanted to feel him fill her and draw out his pleasure as well as her own.
Lowering her head, she placed her forehead softly on his sternum before taking a halted breath. She only stopped when she could feel him softened inside her, even though her inner walls still fluttered and tightened less often, slowly dropping her off the high of ecstasy. Closing her eyes, she finally sank completely down onto his chest, her hair spilling over her shoulders to slip over his skin as she placed her to one.
It took a moment to gather her thoughts and focus, not that she tried so hard to do so. Rather, she felt content to just bask in the aftermath of how he made her feel. Her heart fluttered in her chest as she felt his own rapid pulse beneath her, so alive... so there. She thought for so long, she would never be allowed to have this ever again. And that thought made her bury her face into his neck and hold him close.
For a moment, Steve felt like he was floating on air, no sense of weight or gravity, just the feel of her body against his, the bliss of his climax washing over him. Blinking all too slowly, he waited as her figure came back into focus, his mind lacking coherence but he found that he didn't really need it at the moment.
He moved his hands slowly, almost tiredly, still panting heavily as she slowly leaned down and let herself lie on top of him. He closed his eyes again, nuzzling against her hair and breathing in the scent of her, his arms wrapping around her frame and holding her close to him in a warm and soft embrace.
"Missed you," he whispered softly, kissing the top of her head. One hand moved up to sift through her strands, fingertips gently rubbing against her scalp. "So much... I love you so much."
Dropping soft kisses against his shoulder, she shivered at the feeling of him nuzzling into her hair. It sent tiny wonderful thrums of pleasure through her body that made her squirm a little to settle against him. Not much. Just a bit, because she didn't want him to let go. His arms around her felt perfect. Like they belonged there.
Her eyes closed again at his words, her heart clenching at the thought of missing him. She knew what it meant to miss him. And she missed him. So much it was pure agony at times. Lifting her head, she shifted a little, her body sliding up his causing him to finally slide out of her. A feeling that caused her to tremble just a little at the loss. But she had a reason for moving. Her head came to rest just high enough that she could find his eyes and take in his features quietly.
One hand rose to softly trace his lips, the line of his jaw and over the slightly stubbled plane of his cheeks. Finally, she swept his bangs back gently with a warm almost aching smile. "I have no words for how much I missed you." She didn't. She couldn't put it into words if she tried. Words just did it no justice. "I love you, too, Steve." Her hand pressed against the side of his face softly as she considered the next words carefully. "Thank you... for teaching me how to love." To love him, to love humanity, to believe in something bigger than herself and fully realize what she was meant to do. Without him, where would the world be? Where would she be?
It felt so wonderful to relax with her, to come down from that high with Diana in his arms. Felt like a dream, entirely distant and altogether unattainable for him, and yet... here he was. Alive and well, with the woman he loved, the war over a long time ago. A hundred years... a gap that now he felt like it was slowly closing up between them. He hoped so, anyway.
Letting out a gasp as she moved and he slipped out of her, he slowly blinked his eyes open, glancing up at her as she brushed her fingers across his face, returning her smile with one of his own, carrying every bit of the warmth of the feelings he had for her. It was a wonder they all fit inside of him, honestly.
Her last remark had his smile stretching to a lopsided grin, though, as sweet as it was to hear her say something like that. "Don't sound right... I'm sure you loved people before. Your mother... your sisters. Didn't you?"
The pad of her thumb slipped over his cheekbone as she frowned a bit at his return for that. Not in upset, more just thought of how to explain it in ways that he could understand. "I love my mother. The Amazons... no manner of years will ever change that. But loving them is not the same as loving humanity. They are easy to love." And she could almost taste those words she'd bit at him that day about how humanity didn't deserve any of her people.
Dark eyes found those of blue as she let her fingertips caress the shell of his ear. "Humanity looked so ugly to me. So hard to care for and protect." Shaking her head a little, she didn't really know how to define it for him. "But it's all a matter of believing." She repeated his words softly and let her eyes fall closed.
"I don't think I can explain what it is you did for me." And she didn't want to. Just like explaining what it felt like to miss him for nearly a century couldn't be contained in just words. This shouldn't be constrained either.
He listened to her quietly, a hand smoothing up and down her back in an aimless caress. He wanted to understand, even if, to some degree, he knew what she meant. Different kinds of love, was all. Steve understood, because it was much the same to him. But then, of course, to her there was another layer besides just the love she had for Steve.
His brow rose as she spoke of mankind, though in pleasant surprise more than anything. He wanted to know more, wanted to ask about all the wonderful things she had done all these years, what she had done for this world— because he knew, even if they didn't deserve her (and they didn't), that she would fight nonetheless, that she would help people and protect them, she would stand up for those who couldn't.
She was... perfect. The thought struck him as Steve realized that, in many ways, he didn't deserve her either. But he was just selfish enough that he wouldn't say a single word about that.
"I think I get it," he said finally, nodding at her. "I was... lost, too. In a different way. I didn't know how to believe anymore, but you gave that back to me. You gave me my strength back, my purpose." That, and so much more. She gave him more than he could ever put to words, and he had gone to his death knowing how much he was leaving behind, how much he was letting go, after having only just found it.
He pushed those thoughts away, clearing his throat and swallowing dryly. He was all but on the brink of crying then, so he tried to shift the topic with a playful remark, although his tone was a little shaky at first. "In all honesty, I don't know how you could think humanity was so ugly after you saw me naked, but... alright, then. If you say so."
Slowly pushing up onto an elbow she placed next to his head gently. Fingers slid through his hair as he spoke, wanting to hear what he had to say. Dark eyes slipped over his face, wanting to remember every detail as he spoke and said what he said. Her other hand moved, softly slipping over his forehead, coiling just so in his hair before skirting his hairline gently.
"I finally understood that... how much you must've felt, what you must've been through." For her it had been a single journey that destroyed all notions of moral innocence she'd grown up on. How must it have been for someone that had seen all of this from the beginning to such a horrible end? "I gave you that?" She asked the question softly, her eyes smiling for her as the corners of her lips rose just a little. Because where she would save anyone in need, to know she meant that much to him felt so much warmer deep in her chest.
She could see the emotions in those brilliant blue eyes and she had to move to kiss the corners of his eyes and brush her lips softly over his lashes to ward away any sadness that she could. Smiling as she kissed his temple, she hummed a soft sound. "You are, after all, above average, Steve. Perhaps you should worry more about how the sight of London scarred my view on humanity than you." It was more a teasing statement, her smile giving way to her warmth as she tipped her head to kiss his lips.
"I can, without hesitation, say that you are right about being above average, by the way." Not that she had really ever moved on after him. But she had seen so much in the last century. And well, even if she got her chance to fight alongside 'incredible' men like Superman or Batman, she still felt like the drive and courage in Steve was just as amazing and incredible. Still, bringing that up was more meant to carry his joke and make him smile than anything else.
He couldn't say that thought comforted him. As much as he liked having things in common now, when they had been from such very different worlds then, this wasn't the kind of thing he'd have wanted them to share. A view on the world that wasn't beautiful and nearly flawless, if naïve too— that was how he remembered Diana, then. On the other hand, he knew her ideals, as commendable as they were, were also entirely unrealistic. In that sense, he was also glad she had come to learn more about the world.
He was gladder still that it hadn't been enough for her to give up on humanity entirely.
"You did," he nodded, smiling up at her. "That, and so much more." Everything. Love, life, a purpose when he couldn't find one. As much as it had ached to part from it, to turn his back on her and keep walking as if he couldn't hear her call out to him, as if he couldn't feel her eyes burning into his back. As if that alone wouldn't have been enough for him to give up and never, ever leave her, damned the consequences, if only he had looked back once.
Now he didn't have to, though. Not for any reason.
His lips curled a little in amusement, and he let out a soft laugh at her words. "Hmm, see? I told you so," he teased, tipping his head up to nip playfully at her chin.
When he'd died, she thought for a blinding moment that there was nothing left. Everything good for one single moment was gone and blinding anger had taken over. Still, it was her memories of him that pulled her back down. Cleared her mind and made her realize... there were other people noble like that. Other humans that loved and worked so hard to do the right thing. Like Sammy, Charlie, and Chief who looked so sure they were going to die.
What would have happened if those memories of him, his words, hadn't brought her back to herself? She was ashamed she fell so far even for that short moment. And part of her hoped he never had to know or see what she'd been for that short span.
Lowering her head, she pressed her forehead to his, her eyes closing slowly. Cupping the side of his face, she just drew in his warmth, the feeling of his breath against her face and the sweetness of just having him back. "This time.. try to stay alive for me this time?" It was selfish, and she knew it. But she already knew she'd have to let him go at the end of his life again. That was hard enough to come to grips with.
Just one lifetime. Just one. Let her have at the very least that. Lifting her head, she opened her eyes again to smile at the sound of his laugh. At least her teasing statement earned her what she was aiming for. "You did." Laughing softly, she smiled with a hum at the nip to her chin. "I love you." She stole another soft kiss as she whispered those words. "I regretted every minute of our time apart... never telling you that in return."
He wouldn't feel any differently about her if he were to know about it. People were flawed after all, prone to moments of weakness, in her case brought on by a deep and sudden grief. If anything it only came to show how much she cared about him, even only after knowing each other for such a short while. Made Steve feel surer too, and less like he'd just been rushing into things, falling for her too fast.
"It wasn't a matter of trying, Diana," he said softly, closing his eyes. One of his hands moved up to touch her face, the back of his fingers brushing across her cheek before he cupped it in his palm. "I didn't want to die, but I... I had to."
Someone had to stop that plane. It couldn't have been Diana, not when Ares was there, and who would have easily stopped her. If not for her keeping the god busy, Steve would have never managed to destroy that airplane. Then again, part of him wondered if Ares hadn't hoped for that kind of outcome as well, if only to make Diana suffer even more.
"It's alright,"he shook his head, kissing her lips softly, again and again. "I knew you cared. I hoped... if I lived nowhere else, then I was happy to live in your memories." And her heart. "I'm glad that I did. Or else I wouldn't be here right now."
Her hand slipped over his to press his hand more firmly to the skin and keep the hand there. Leaning into the touch, she closed her eyes and just soaked up the warm that came with it. "I know. I know you did what had to be done... Just..." She wanted to say she was stronger now. She could do it. Let her do it. But what sort of person would that make her to ask such a thing of the man she loved more than anything when she knew his heart was made of stronger things than that? Letting out a soft sigh, she finally added softly. "Just try to stay with me this time?"
If he hadn't done what he did, she knew it would have altered her view of him in some way. And maybe she loved him even more for making that hard decision no one wanted to make. A decision she may have to make someday herself. To ask him not to do something she may do herself some day would be ridiculous. Still, a sudden smile flit over her lips as she smiled. "I have a reason to come back now." The idea was such a marvel it suddenly made her huff a soft laugh and she smiled even brighter.
She hadn't even realized how much she'd wanted that feeling. Before she'd simply thought if she died in battle she not only did what was necessary, but she'd also see him again. It made her feel lighter and so very much alive. Leaning down into his kiss, she hummed a happy sound against his lips.
"You have been in my heart, Steve. Etched so strongly I knew you would never fade away." How else would she have been able to draw him from the holds of her uncle? Even he seemed impressed by the strength of Steve's spirit after so many years. Staying quiet a moment, she leaned in and dropped a kiss to his lips again still smiling warmly. "Welcome home." Not a building. Not a place. But to her and her embrace. And hopefully he knew exactly what she meant.
Despite the reasons that led her to asking that of him, Steve had to smile at the request. His thumb brushed across her cheek, the pad just lightly ghosting along the tips of her perfect eyelashes. God, she was beautiful. He was sure he wouldn't spend a waking moment of this new life of his without thinking about her. "I'll stay with you. I promise."
Maybe it was a promise he couldn't keep, not completely, but he did it anyway. If only because he would do everything within his power to make sure he'd keep his word, and try his best to avoid any situation that might take that power of decision from him.
Besides, there was no war now, and Steve didn't intend to be a solider again. The same dangerous situation likely wouldn't present itself. Not the kind to demand such a difficult decision and deadly sacrifice from him.
Wrapping his arms strongly around her, he held her close and tight, returning each and every kiss, leaning in for a last one that lingered. He was almost unwilling to part, even if he knew they would have to. Eventually. "Happy to be home." At last, a sentiment he truly understood, likely for the first time in his life. "Should we go shower now?" He only asked right now because he knew it wouldn't involve them putting much distance between each other.
"Thank you." She said the words quietly, her head leaning into his touch as her lashes lowered nearly completely at the feeling of each brush and caress. Letting out a soft sigh, she gave a gentle little hum before adding with equal severity but so much warmth. "I promise, too." Because she could no more ask him such a thing if she would not give in equal parts. She never wanted him to feel as thought it weren't.
Taking a deep breath, she smiled again his lips and returned every kiss warmly with so much love and affection. Leaning closer, she nuzzled into his cheek and just for a moment she completely settled on top of him, her nose bumping the shell of his ear gently as she soaked him in.
Her smile stayed clear and warm on her lips as he asked that question, only making it wider. "We likely should." One set of fingers came to rest high on his chest, the tips rising to glide from his chin down the curve of his throat softly. She didn't want to get up, but he wanted a shower and now that they had gotten intimate, she knew it really was necessary now. Breathing out a gentle sigh, she finally pushed herself back up into a sitting position still straddling him.
Catching both of his hands, she kissed his knuckles and palms before letting them go so she could slip off the bed. Half turning, she let her eyes run over him before finding his eyes once more. Without a word, she offered her hand to him, waiting for him to join her.
"I should hope so," he shot back in a partly teasing tone, lips quirking lightly in amusement. It was one topic he was glad to move past, though he knew it was a conversation that was necessary. But right now he just wanted to enjoy this. Being close to her, getting to enjoy their reunion, all the while not having to worry about some looming war or dangers approaching with the rising sun.
Steve felt freer than he could ever remember, at peace and with a whole life he had never even dreamt for himself. Thousands of mornings for them to have breakfast together, to read the newspaper. Anything else she might want to do with him.
Sighing softly at the touch of her fingers, his eyes blinked lazily as he watched her sit up, then move off the bed. His lips curled into a warm smile, and he lingered on the bed himself for a few seconds longer before he followed after, getting to his feet and stepping closer so he could wrap his arms around her waist instead, following her into the bathroom.
When he wrapped around her, all she could do was smile and huff a soft laugh. Diana knew one thing was certain as she pulled him into the shower, she planned to enjoy the entirety of their first night back together. Something she very well did live up to and just maybe she didn't let him get nearly as much sleep as he likely needed. But then, when they did fall asleep tangled up in each other, it was the best sleep she'd had in years.
Diana just might have slept later, but a soft chime from her phone pulled her from her the comfortable depths of sleep. Shifting against the warmth of his form against her, she slowly blinked her eyes open until she could focus on the lines of his face. Rather than reach for her phone, Diana took a moment to watch the way the morning light slipping through the curtains slid over his features and illuminated angles and curves of his face. His hair was a mess, something that made her eyes light up in amusement as she reached up to softly smooth it. The lighter blonde in his hair picked up the light, almost illuminating the strands in a halo effect. It nearly made her reach for her phone if only to get a picture of Steve in this moment.
Because if she were honest with herself, Steve right now, looked absolutely gorgeous and utterly... peaceful.
Shifting in his arms, she managed to move just enough so she could raise up on her elbow. Bending closer, she kissed a temple before drawing her lips over his skin to kiss sweetly at the corner of his eye. She could feel the soft lines where the skin crinkled when he smiled and it sent a wave of warmth through her just thinking about it. The feeling pulled at the corners of her own lips till she couldn't help a tiny smile. Shifting again, she left another kiss to the bridge of his nose before dipping lower to caress his cheek with her lips.
She more than lived up to it, really. After the novelty that had been the modern shower, Steve had happily jumped back into bed with Diana, and... well, suffice to say she exhausted him to his last bit of energy and then some. He couldn't even remember the last time he felt this worn out, but it was a happy and blissful feeling too, for a change. Steve had fallen sleep nearly the instant they had tuckered in for the night and he'd closed his eyes, a deep and dreamless kind of sleep like he couldn't remember having in years.
Not even the soft chime stirred his sleep, though it should, if nothing else for being a completely strange and foreign sound to him. He was too tired to even make note of it, and even as Diana moved softly beside him, his mind was clearly reluctant to be pulled from its state of deep peaceful rest.
But then she started planting soft little kisses on him, and while it might not have been his intention, that alone was enough to pull him gently towards the surface. His breath shifted into something not quite so slow or silent first, then he let out a soft sigh, and eventually, after a while of debating whether he should just tug her close and get her to fall back asleep, he cracked his eyes open a hint.
Not that he saw much of anything, just the blur of her silhouette before he closed them again. His voice was a low, drawn-out mumble, as he curled his arm around her and shifted close. "Don't tell me you're ready for another round..." Because, as she could likely tell, he was not.
Watching him slowly wake up made her stop a moment even after she kissed the corner of his lips lightly. Leaning back, she watched his eyes open just a bit, instantly noting that beautiful sliver of blue that looked even more vivid against his dark lashes. It was almost a shame when he closed them again, but she understood why. She truly had worn him out.
Something Diana just might have been a little proud over if the slight pull at one corner of her lips gave anything away about her feelings on the matter.
When he finally spoke, she huffed a soft laugh and this time she purposely kissed his lips in a brief brush of contact. "No. You need to rest. You just look... lovely right now." Like a work of art in her mind. Humming softly, she finally reached over him to grab her phone off of the bedside table then settled back into the pillows. For a moment, she dropped the device on the mattress beside her so she could coerce and pull Steve into her arms until his head came to rest on her chest.
A set of nimble fingers threaded through his hair gently, the fingernails lovingly trailing over his scalp. "I'm sorry I woke you." That hand stayed in his hair, sometimes trailing down the back of his neck and along his spine before reversing and climbing back up to bury in his hair again. Still, she picked up her phone with the other hand and turned it on. The message was from Bruce like she expected, probably 'working late' again. The message was a brief mentioning of a time he would call her later. Typing a quick 'thank you' in reply, she dropped it back on the bed so she could use that hand to trace over the shell of his ear.
Diana hoped her touch was soothing and not disrupting his rest, but she just couldn't stop herself from touching him right then.

"STEVE!"

"So much... I love you so much."
no subject

Letting out a gasp as she moved and he slipped out of her, he slowly blinked his eyes open, glancing up at her as she brushed her fingers across his face, returning her smile with one of his own, carrying every bit of the warmth of the feelings he had for her. It was a wonder they all fit inside of him, honestly.
Her last remark had his smile stretching to a lopsided grin, though, as sweet as it was to hear her say something like that. "Don't sound right... I'm sure you loved people before. Your mother... your sisters. Didn't you?"
